See what NFA 2001 attendees had to say about the Jupiter 500 series alto flute Mark Thomas, NFA Founder and Honorary Life President, presents showcase with Jupiter at NFA At the 2002 National Flute Association Convention in Washington, D.C., NFA founder and honorary life president Mark Thomas presented an NFA Showcase in which he introduced and demonstrated the new Jupiter 523S Bass Flute (available in 2003). Mr. Thomas also discussed bass flute literature and opportunities for flute choirs, flute ensembles, and individual players and specifically focused on Jupiter President R. Gabe Ireland's intent to create a quality instrument that will be easily attainable to groups who previously could not afford harmony flutes. "How many of you know the name 'Gabe Ireland'?" he asked as the first sentence in his showcase, leading to a discussion of the very ideas that allowed Jupiter, in conjunction with Mr. Thomas, to create the 523S Bass Flute.
